“Adapt or fall behind” is the big PSA these days, in reference to adopting generative AI.
The human species is uniquely adaptable, which is how we survived and thrived on this planet for millennia, but our superpower might become our weakness, if we don’t stop to question this push.
We’re asking questions like:
-
Why are we being told to urgently accept this new-and-untested tech, under threat of falling behind?
-
Who’s pushing that prognosis and who stands to benefit?
-
What if we actually fall behind if we follow that advice?
-
What if the next era is actually about our most human art, creativity, and authentic mess?
-
What if we will be highly valued if we keep our skills intact?
Multiple studies cite a reduction in critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and independent judgment resulting from offloading cognitive processes and physical activities to AI.
Basically, when we let tech do our homework (and creative output) for us, we lose the essential benefits of having a brain and body. And a lot more is at risk too.
But we're not anti-technology.
We just want to reclaim and retain our skills (and value).

Welcome, humans!
In a world being rapidly transformed by technology, what is meant to stay in human hands?
Join the project to find out.
Reclaim 12 skills we’re losing, and remember how to be human in the age of AI and irresponsible technology.
This project is inspired by Graham Lee’s book, “Human Being.”
You will receive bi-weekly emails with updates, reminders, inspiration, and resources to support each skill:
Navigation, Motion, Conversation, Solitude, Reading, Writing, Art, Craft, Memory, Dreams, Thought, and Time.
All you need is a copy of the book, curiosity and a commitment to being human.
We're here to help you stay on track and get wild.
